Donate to a bench to honor Matt Stahlman
In May, Matt passed away from cancer at the age of 42. Many GAP users knew Matt as he plowed the fields at his family’s farm on Helmstetter's Curve for most of his life. Other than a few years, Matt spent his life on Cash Valley Road, first with his family working the farm, and then when he and his wife Liz built their home there. Prior to his illness, Matt worked for the LaVale Sanitary Commission and Shaffer Construction. He could fix almost anything, and up until the week before his death, was planning on making hay. As his brother Michael said at his funeral, Matt was “all gas and no brakes,” and he could work anyone under the table. Matt leaves behind his wife Liz, Frostburg City Administrator, and two young children, Willow and Lane. While the farm is now owned by someone else, the Stahlman/Helmstetter family is still an integral part of life on Cash Valley Road. Please consider making a donation toward this much deserved bench.
The money raised over the cost of the bench will be donated to Willow and Lane's education fund.
